Quick Facts
Accession has been developed according to the UK Department for Transport's specifications and is designed to meet the guidelines for local transport plans in the UK and worldwide.
The most complete package for accessibility analysis and
travel time analysis
Accession is the first software package to fully address all aspects of travel
time and cost mapping using digital road networks, public transport timetable
data and flexible, on-demand transport. It is able to deliver key performance
indicators through the analysis of any geo-demographic data using travel time,
cost or distance.
The power of GIS
Accession has been developed using Geomedia Objects, from Intergraph. It will
work with most leading GIS data formats with no need to import or translate to
other formats. Accession is therefore a fully functional GIS with all the
expected features including layer control, zoom settings (scale dependence) and
layer fit, a selection tool, thematic mapping, raster and vector mapping, legend
and scale bar, a wide variety of line styles and shading, text labelling and
layouts with templates. accession has an extremely powerful query builder for
table or map-based queries that offers dynamic buffering, operators such as
inside, outside, intersecting or touching. accession queries are dynamic and can
be mapped or saved for re-use.

Accession is the first software package to fully address all aspects of travel
time and cost mapping using digital road networks, public transport timetable
data and flexible, on-demand transport. Endorsed by the UK government, it is
able to deliver key performance indicators through the analysis of
geodemographic data using travel time, cost or distance. Accession was designed
by the UK Department for Transport and developed by MVA and Citilabs using the
latest technology.
Basemap were principally involved in the design phase of the
software and provided project support throughout the product development life
cycle. Basemap are strategically placed to deliver Accession related services.
With an in depth knowledge of the Accession product and many years experience in
transport accessibility mapping, we can offer onsite training packages specific
to particular users requirements and experience. Citilabs have appointed Basemap
as the UK distributor of Accession software to both the Public and Private
Sectors.
Basemap will fully support all Accession licences sold by them to
ensure client satisfaction and continued use of the software. Alternatively, use
us to undertake accession related analysis for you providing you with the maps
and figures you need in projects.
Training
The two-day training course combines ‘hands-on’ experience, practical exercises and demonstrations and is suitable for both novices and experienced GIS users/accessibility planners.
All equipment for the training course will be provided giving delegates a laptop each to maximise their learning potential.
The course will be structured so that the first day covers the basic fundamentals of Accession. This involves inputting road and public transport data and the using basic origin and destination settings to produce contours. Then the course looks at the different types of calculations that can be produced.
The objective of the first days training is to ensure delegates have a good basic knowledge of using Accession.
The second day of the course looks at using more detailed data to increase the accuracy of the results, this is done by using pre-loaded destination data and bringing in census data. This data will then be run through Accession and analysed using both threshold reports and point maps to give greater analysis of the results. The course will then lead to the “What if” scenarios. This means editing the public transport data by putting on new routes, editing routes and existing timetables to show what happens when public transport data is changed. Then looking at how editing the road network by editing road speeds in certain areas and creating/closing existing roads and seeing what effect this has.
By the end of the two day course the delegate will be able to have a good working knowledge of Accession and will be able to utilise many of its functions.
